I can’t help but share this quote by Pope Francis: “Rivers do not drink their own water; trees don’t eat their own fruit; the sun does not shine on itself and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature. We are all born to help each other. Life is good when you are happy, but much better when others are happy because of you.”
Karen Davila didn’t think twice about bringing her dog to the TV Patrol set one evening recently. Her furry pet sat quietly close to her feet as the veteran journalist anchored the news. She stated later that no one could look after her dog at home that day, so that she had to bring him to the ABS-CBN studio to ensure his safety.
Something to look forward to is Repertory Philippines’ end-of-2024 offering, ‘Coming Home To Chrismas,’ a musical featuring the enchanting music of Jose Mari Chan. The long-running theater company moves to its new home, the REP Theater, in Eastwood, Quezon City in September.

Murals based on posters of Filipino movies that made their mark on the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will soon adorn parts of EDSA.
The effort is in celebration of MMFF’s golden (50th) anniversary this year, thus said Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes during a press conference Aug. 15 at the MMDA headquarters in Pasig City.
My take at the press con which I articulated to Chairman Artes: Recreate the posters of films that won best picture awards at the MMFF. The murals featuring the films should be of equal size to avoid favoritism.
Next in line should be movies that became classics through the MMFF.
MMDA and iAcademy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that assigns students to create murals honoring iconic films from the MMFF through the years.
This year, MMFF is celebrating the theme “Sine-Sigla sa Singkwenta.”
The murals, according to Artes, will create colorful and nostalgic art display along EDSA.
One of the proposed locations for the murals is the area between Buendia and Ayala along EDSA, which is approximately 653 meters in length.
iAcademy chief operating officer Raquel Wong said the program “symbolizes our shared commitment and uses creativity to enhance our public spaces. The artworks of our students will showcase not only their skills but Filipino life, community, and creativity.”
MMDA previously partnered with iAcademy, a specialized business and design school, together with Boysen, on a mural painting activity built around road safety.
