The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is now accepting exhibition proposals for its 2025 NCCA Gallery and Exhibition Program. Applications open on June 30, 2024, and the deadline is August 31, 2024.
Since 2009, the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros has provided a space for young and emerging artists to showcase their work freely. Established artists can also use the space to share their ideas and engage the audience in the arts.
Eligibility
Any Filipino citizen, group, or institution in the Philippines can submit exhibition proposals. Proposals from foreign groups or institutions must go through the NCCA International Affairs Office and should be related to a diplomatic milestone, international commitment, or a cultural agreement.
Offices within the Commission can submit exhibition proposals for national celebrations like National Arts Month (February), Women’s Month (March), National Literature Month (April), Filipino Food Month (April), National Heritage Month (May), Indigenous Peoples Month (October), Museums and Galleries Month (October), and Library and Information Services Month (November).
Officials, employees, and consultants of the Commission, as well as members of the executive councils of national committees and their relatives up to the fourth degree, cannot submit exhibition proposals.
No exhibition proposal can be approved for more than three consecutive years. After three years of approval, applicants must wait a full exhibition cycle before reapplying.
Selection process and criteria
The NCCA Gallery Secretariat will first check if exhibition proposals have all the required documents.
The NCCA Gallery Exhibition Committee will then review and discuss the proposals.
Proposals will be evaluated for approval and scheduling based on various criteria, including:
Alignment with the NCCA Gallery’s mission
Concept of the art exhibit (subject, technique, style, artistic expression, experimentation)
Connection to other community events or exhibits, and relevance to special or national events
Representation of a significant culture, movement, genre, or trend
Objective presentation of controversial topics and neutrality in politics, religion, and social doctrines
Does not promote the financial gain of any individual, organization, or business
Ease and cost of installation
4. Applicants will be informed of the results through an official communication in November 2024.
