The latest data from the Department of Education (DepEd) released on Sunday, July 28, showed a total of 979 schools will postpone their scheduled start of classes on July 29.
Of this number, 225 schools are in the National Capital Region (NCR), 231 schools are in Region I, 452 schools are in Region III, 67 schools are in Region IV-A, and four schools are in Region XIII.
These schools, DepEd said, will conduct clean-up and rehabilitation activities.
Meanwhile, DepEd maintained that flood-free schools with minimal damage will open as scheduled to avoid disrupting the education of learners.

Earlier, a group of teachers on appealed to Local Government Units (LGUs) to “reconsider” the date of school opening in their localities to give citizens, parents, students, and teachers more time to prepare for the school year.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara, on July 26, said that the opening of public schools for SY 2024-2025 scheduled on July 29 will proceed for those that were not severely affected by widespread flooding brought about by the “Carina”-enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).
