Man in viral video 'sniffing drugs not President Marcos'

“Definitely he is not the President.”

This was the declaration of Justice Undersecretary Hermogenes T. Andres after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) conducted a forensic analysis of the viral video where a person, who appears to look like President Marcos, is shown sniffing a white susbstance believed to be illlegal drugs.

During a press conference at the NBI headquarters in Quezon City late Tuesday afternoon, July 23, Undersecretary Andres said the forensic examination of the person in the video revealed that he has different facial features compared to President Marcos, particularly, the shape of the ears.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary  Benjamin "Benhur" C. Abalos Jr. also said during the press conference the Philippine National Police (PNP) also conducted a separate forensic examination and had similar findings.

“Hindi po ito ang Presidente. Ibang tao po ito as far as sa tenga pa lang (This is not the President. This is a different person based on the ear alone),” Abalos said.

NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago said “the PNP and NBI are working together towards the solution to this problem.”

“Alam n’yo we have identified ang mga tao (We have identified the persons behind this),” Santiago said.

“But we are still gathering enough evidence to prove para ang case na isasampa namin sa kanila ay talagang airtight (so that the case we will be filing will be airtight),” he pointed out.

Andres assured “we will see to it that the persons responsible will be held accountable for this malicious and dastardly act.”

“Napakmalisyoso ng ginawa (This is very malicious),” stressed Abalos about the video.

Abalos lamented that the viral video was released just before the President made his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22.

“But one thing is for certain dapat talaga may mananagot po rito (someone should be held accountable),” he vowed.
