Sec Remulla to drivers: "Keep your cool during traffic altercations'

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla on Thursday, June 6, warned drivers not to resort to violence during traffic altercations or road rage that could lead to pysical injuries or deaths.

“There is no reason or cause to disregard one’s life because of a road rage,” Remulla said in a statement.

“It is best to always bear in mind each time we are behind the wheel that life is a hundred times more precious than our egos,” he stressed.

Remulla gave his advise to drivers after the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office approved the indictment in court of Gerard Raymund Yu for murder and violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The road rage suspect was arrested by police last May 29, a day after a traffic altercation in Makati City where driver Ancieto M. Mateo, 66, was reportedly shot to death by Yu.

"We have an airtight case right now based on available evidence and witnesses. Ensure that justice will be served,” Remulla told prosecutors.
