The six-time Southeast Asian Games champion clocked 50.52 seconds in the Final B of the men's 400-meter hurdles to finish behind Roxry Cato of Jamaica, who timed 48.88sec. Hometown bet Justin Rose bagged the bronze with 51.56sec.

Cray’s silver-medal finish was enough to get him points needed to boost his rankings to qualify for the Olympics. He is currently No. 58 in the world.

His time was still also two seconds slower than the Olympic standard of 48.70sec.

So far, he has only breached below 50 seconds this year -- at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California last April.

Cray hopes to make the most out of his remaining races when he competes in the Royal City Inferno Track and Field Festival in Ontario, Canada.
