Probe ordered on why Chinese woman has no arrival stamp on her passport, no immigration record

How did a Chinese woman manage to stay in the Philippines without an arrival stamp on her passport and with no arrival record at the Bureau of Immigration (BI)?

These were the issues which BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco ordered an immediate investigation.

The foreigner, identified as Zhang Zimo, 23, was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last June 15 before she could board her flight to Guangzhou, China.

“I have ordered a thorough investigation of the incident, to pinpoint who is liable," Tansingco said on Sunday, June 23.

He said that the immigration officer who examined her passport noticed that the Chinese woman's passport had no arrival stamp. When checked, the foreigtner had no arrival records in the Philippines, he also said.

“It is a blatant offense for any foreigner to enter the country without inspection and admission by immigration authorities or obtains entry into the Philippines by willful, false or misleading representation,” Tansingco explained.

The Chinese woman is currently detained at the BI’s facility in Taguig City while awaiting her deportation.
