2 American convicted sex offenders barred entry to Philippines

Two Americans who have been convicted of sex offenses committed against minors in their country have been barred entry to the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday, June 21.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified them as Danny Albera Rodrigues, 52, and Kenneth Allen Roedell, 72.

Rodriques arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last June 17, while Roedell disembarked at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) last June 10.

The BI said that in 2003 Rodrigues was "convicted of two counts of sexual assault in the second and third degrees wherein the victims are less than 14 years of age."

“On the other hand, Roedell was convicted in 2004 of sexually molesting and engaging in lewd and lascivious acts with a 12-year-old victim,” it said.

“As a consequence of their exclusion they have been placed in our immigration blacklist and perpetually banned from re-entering the Philippines for being undesirable aliens,” said Tansingco.

Under the Philippine Immigration Act, the commissioner reminded that the two Americans are considered excludable aliens due to their conviction for crimes involving moral turpitude.
