DOJ gets assistance on deportation of 'undesirable Chinese nationals'

The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) has agreed to help the Philippine government deport undesirable Chinese nationals by providing them with air transportation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Thursday, June 20.

In a statement, the DOJ said the federation's assistance was contained in a memorandum of agreement (MOU) signed by Justice Undersecretary Hermogenes T. Andres and FFCCCII President Cecilio K. Pedro.

Andres said “the MOU will greatly aid in the decongestion of Philippine Immigration Detention Facilities, and expedite the deportation of individuals who are considered undesirable aliens.”

He also said the initiative also “contributes to the strengthening of ties between Filipinos and Chinese in the Philippines, and serves as a testament to the organization’s involvement not only with economic, but also with the socio-civic matters of our nation.”

“FFCCCII shall assist by providing air transportation arrangements for the detained Chinese nationals once cleared by the DOJ for deportation, so that they may answer for their offenses in their home country,” he added.

On the part of the DOJ, Andres said the department "will ensure full compliance of the detained Chinese nationals with the Department’s relevant procedures and processes on deportation back to the People’s Republic of China.”
