PAGASA: Hot, humid weather expected across most of the country; afternoon thunderstorms possible

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, June 16, said the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” has temporarily receded, thus hot and humid weather is expected across most of the archipelago in the coming days.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel James Villamil said the effect of the habagat will be weaker compared to the past 24 hours and may only affect Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, and Western Visayas.

Villamil added that rains from the habagat in the coming days may only be concentrated offshore.

He said hot and humid weather is expected, although isolated rain showers may still occur in the afternoon or evening.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, and Western Visayas over the next 24 hours.

Likewise, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA continues to advise the public to remain vigilant against potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
