DMW: No Filipino casualty reported in Indonesia massive floods

There were no overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) reported killed or injured so far following the severe flooding that hit Indonesia earlier this month, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

In a statement, DMW said its migrant workers office in Singapore is in close coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta and the Philippine Consulate General in Manado to monitor the well-being of overseas Filipino workers in Indonesia who may have been affected by the heavy rainfall in South Sulawesi since Friday, May 3.

“There are no immediate reports of Filipinos injured from the heavy rainfall and resulting flash floods,” the DMW said.

“[The] Philippine Consulate General in Manado also reports that they are in touch with the Filipino communities in Makassar City. Community leaders said they were unaffected by the heavy rains and flooding caused by the severe weather disturbance,” it added.

DMW said Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency has recorded 15 deaths due to severe rainfall, flash floods, and landslides.
