SSS to localize e-centers in Batangas ecozones, municipal halls

The Social Security System (SSS) made transactions in Lipa, Batangas easier by localizing e-centers in Lipa Industrial Park and Lipa City Hall.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet said on Thursday, May 23, that they had signed an agreement between Lima Land Inc. and the Lipa local government unit (LGU) to establish e-centers in the offices earlier this month.

“Since full-time work schedules can be demanding for most of our employed members, we will bring e-Centers directly to their workplaces. This will lessen the need for our members to visit our branches during office hours, making it easier for them to access My.SSS accounts during breaks and after work,” Macasaet explained.

Over 67,000 members within the park and city hall can process their pension fund transactions within their work area.

“We strongly advise our employed members to check their contributions and loan records regularly to ensure that employers comply with their legal obligations and that their benefit and loan eligibilities will not be compromised,” he added.

The SSS chief also informed that workers can visit the e-centers 24/7 to get their social security (SS) numbers online through the official website.

Aside from creating available e-centers in Lipa, Macasaet inked partnerships with Batangas State University – The National Engineering University (BatStateU), and other LGUs such as the City Government of Tanauan, and the Municipal Governments of Cuenca and Malvar.

This initiative would extend social security protection and SSS services to over 1,000 job orders and contracts of service workers and self-employed members within the state university and LGUs under the KaSSSanga Collect program.

“The SSS is glad to extend our programs and services to our workers in the academe who share their grit and passion with our young generation, as well as to the city and municipal workers who selflessly provide public service to their fellow Batangueños,” Macasaet shared.

He also clarified that the private pension fund is ready to act as the safety net for future contingencies for those who cannot avail of the benefits of other government employees.

Furthermore, they will continue their SS and Employees’ Compensation (EC) contributions by deducting them from the registered workers’ payroll and remitting them to the SSS.

“Through this program, they will become eligible for sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death and funeral benefits under the Social Security Program, as well as loan privileges for immediate financial needs,” the private pension fund chief said.

Meanwhile, self-employed members or dependents are assured of available compensation packages under the EC program in case of work-related sickness, injury, or death.

The Social Security officials also discussed membership, programs, and services to 300 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), barangay officials, and other stakeholders at the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club.

“We directed them to our offsite e-Centers and they were assisted by our branch personnel for immediate action,” Macasaet concluded.
