Agriculture student dies after being hit by car

SANCHEZ MIRA, Cagayan – A 21-year-old-college student died after he was hit by a speeding van in front of the Cagayan State University here at noon on Wednesday, May 15.

Police said the victim was a second-year agriculture college from Fuga Island, Aparri and staying in a boarding house in Barangay Namuac here.

Police Corporal Eric Gumabay, Sanchez Mira police station prober, said the victim was on his way to his boarding house after class when he was suddenly hit by a speeding van driven by a 29-year-old businesswoman from nearby Santa Prexedes, Cagayan.

The victim sustained head injuries and was declared dead in the hospital.

The driver is in police custody and faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
