PAGBILAO, Quezon – A centenarian here recently received a P100,000 cash gift from the local government.
Mayor Gigi Portes, with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), awarded Isabel Lagata from Sitio Lagpond, Barangay Binahaan.

The benefit is provided for in the Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016.
Lagata’s sister, Lourdes, said Isabel’s secret to a long life is eating vegetables and drinking milk.
Isabel was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1923, in Sorsogon and has 60 grandchildren.
Meanwhile, Gumaca, Quezon Mayor Webster Letargo said that senior citizens aged 90 and above will receive cash benefits from the municipal government.
Letargo said that residents aged 90 to 94 will receive P5,000 every year and 95 to 99 will receive P7,500.
Centenarians will receive P10,000 aside from the P100,000 from the government.
