Singapore's top diplomat to visit Manila next week

Singapore’s top diplomat will visit the Philippines next week to discuss both countries’ plans in the coming years and discuss matters concerning the region.

Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan will sit down with Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo as he will be undertaking an official visit to Manila from April 15 to 17.

The DFA said the two diplomats will discuss ways to further strengthen Philippines-Singapore relations, as well as to exchange views on regional and international developments.

“The visit of Foreign Minister Balakrishnan follows the successful convening of the 6th Informal-Consultations on the Philippine-Singapore Action Plan (IC-PSAP) last February 2024,” the DFA said.

“The current visit is expected to build on the gains of the IC-PSAP and plan for future engagements as relations between the two countries continue to deepen,” it added.

The Philippines and Singapore are marking their 55 years of multi-faceted engagement in the following: defense and security, trade and investment, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Balakrishnan made his introductory visit to the Philippines on June 13, 2017.
