CEBU CITY – Police are hunting a man who shot a private tutor during a robbery inside a public utility jeepney (PUJ) here on Wednesday night, March 27.
The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) assured that its personnel will not stop until the perpetrator is arrested.
The victim, Jenelita Salvador, 26, suffered a bullet wound in the neck. Police said the victim, a native of Maasin, Southern Leyte living in Nasipit, Barangay Talamban here, is already in stable condition but her bullet wound needs to be operated on.
Investigation showed that the victim was aboard a PUJ in Barangay San Miguel when a male passenger declared a holdup.
Police said Salvador refused to give her belongings to the robber who panicked when she resisted. At the height of the commotion inside the PUJ, the robber’s firearm went off and hit the victim in the neck.
The perpetrator fled after the incident while the victim was taken to a hospital.
Friends and relatives of the victim have launched a “Piso for Jenelita” fund drive to help cover her hospital expenses.
“The CCPO has not stopped to find the perpetrator. In our weekly oversight meeting, this incident was highlighted and we want to emphasize that we are working hard to locate the perpetrator,” Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, Deputy City Director for Operations of the CCPO, said a in press briefing on Monday, April 1.
