P&G's water purification technology for Filipino families

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has initiated the Children's Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program in partnership with World Vision Philippines. This program is dedicated to supplying clean drinking water to communities that are deprived of safe water sources.

In regions where access to safe drinking water is scarce, securing a clean water supply presents a significant challenge, impacting thousands of children, especially in underprivileged areas such as Agusan del Sur in Mindanao.

In Agusan del Sur, families frequently depend on unsecured water sources like exposed springs or surface waters from rivers and lakes, which fail to comply with safety and hygiene standards.  Manobo families mostly live in floating houses.  They rely on nearby spring water or rainwater for drinking and bathing.  However, due to landslides and flooding, these sources are at risk of contamination bringing greater risks of waterborne diseases like diarrhea and typhoid fever.

P&G Purifier of Water is one innovative solution created by P&G scientists in collaboration with US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  This remarkable powder, infused with coagulants and disinfectants, is engineered to purify up to 10 liters of contaminated water by eradicating dirt and pathogens in just 30 minutes. It enables Filipinos in isolated regions to access safe and clean drinking water for daily consumption.

The CSDW program by P&G, in collaboration with World Vision aims to deliver 3.4 million P&G Purifier of Water packets to 29,000 families in underserved areas by 2025.
