The tragic downfall of Twomad
Controversial YouTuber passes away at the age of 23
At a glance
Although many might not know him by his true name, Muudea Sedik, millions online are likely to recognize him as the viral YouTuber referred to as Twomad. Twomad first found Internet fame through his gaming videos and meme edit content online. He quickly amassed a subscriber count of over 2.2 million by 2020. Although already popular with a certain subsection of gamers, Twomad’s fame rose even higher after creating a meme video entitled Goodnight, Girl, I’ll See You Tomorrow. In it, the YouTuber can be seen recording a message addressed to a woman before comically falling over. Various edits of the clip went viral on other social media platforms like Instagram. The clip is part of an original compilation that currently stands at over 6.8 million views.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Sedik steadily grew an audience making meme videos. One of his most popular series involved him hijacking random Zoom meetings and classroom sessions. It skyrocketed to a point that major news outlets like BBC World News picked it up, intrigued by the appeal of his “Zoombombing” videos. Pretty soon, many of his fans viewed him as one of the top Internet celebrities and praised him for his zany antics. He cemented his Internet celebrity status even further after joining other popular YouTubers and Twitch streamers like Matt Wattson and Ryan Magee from Supermega, Swaggersouls, Eddy Burback, and more in the EpicSMP Minecraft collective. After the server shutdown, Twomad continued to stream more on his YouTube channel and post more comedy videos on his channel. The meme star also made waves online after his team-up with OnlyFans model Belle Delphine went viral online.
Unfortunately, as Twomad’s rose to fame swiftly, so did the controversies. While most knew him for his wacky attitude, allegations later came out that he was harassing other people. Just last summer, an osu! YouTuber Goldibell revealed screencaps of alleged conversations Twomad had with her that contained disturbingly inappropriate messages. She would later reveal that Twomad had sexually assaulted her and shared more screencaps showing Twomad spamming her inbox and harassing her using burner accounts.
It didn’t help that rather than refuting the claims and presenting his side of the story, he would instead post memes and unserious replies to those with queries. Twomad had also previously gotten into trouble for using a picture of an underaged transgender girl who was brutally murdered. He referred to her as his girlfriend. As more allegations came out, many of his followers and fellow content creators started to distance themselves from him. Some started to voice their concerns about his mental health in reaction to the tweets he was making that became more and more unhinged.
On Feb. 14, the Los Angeles Police Department broke the news that Twomad died due to a suspected drug overdose. He was 23. Shortly after the news of his death broke out, another YouTuber came out with claims that Twomad had been attempting to murder him over the past few years and he had been working with the proper authorities to check up on his wellbeing.
With his audience now divided due to the controversies surrounding the Internet star, many preferred to leave things at that, knowing all too well how his destructive actions affected others. Yet, a few out there still choose to mourn for the loss of a meme icon, choosing to separate the star’s personal life from his supposed craft. However we may view Twomad’s passing, it’s worth noting that when dealing with mental issues, one must seek the help of a medical professional.
