The Embassy of Hungary extended an invitation to a Hungarikum Recital on Feb. 16, 2024, at the Penthouse of the Del Rosario Law Centre in BGC, Taguig City. Her Excellency Ambassador Titanilla Toth, along with her spouse, Arkadiusz Jan Tracz, hosted this special musical event. Attendees, friends of the Embassy, joyfully experienced the stirring music of Jozsef Terek as he performed Hungarian melodies, classical music, and popular pieces using the tárogató. The tárogató, an instrument resembling the clarinet, is a woodwind instrument with a single reed commonly used in Hungarian folk music.

Terek, an outstanding Hungarian performer and popular musician in the Hungarian folk art scene, as well as a composer and folksong researcher, serves as a cultural ambassador for the tárogató instrument. Recognized with the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit, he has been promoting Hungarian musical values, particularly the tárogató, for 30 years, both in Hungary and abroad.

The 41-year-old musician, whose musical career began 30 years ago in his hometown, Tapioszele, has toured over 100 times in almost 40 countries on all continents. He is also a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, having performed on stages throughout Europe, America, Africa, Oceania, and Asia, representing his country in 36 other countries at various world music festivals, theaters, universities, competitions for composers, and professional conferences.

The Hungarikum Recital is part of the one-year celebration commemorating the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Hungary.
