Persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who are newly turned over to the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City will get restricted visits for 35 days, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
“This measure is instituted to allow the Bureau to conduct comprehensive assessments of new PDLs, including but not limited to medical, psychological, and behavioral evaluations,” the BuCor said in a statement.
“The restriction aims to minimize external influences during this critical adjustment phase, ensuring that the process is carried out in a secure and controlled environment,” it explained.
Under the policy, newly turned over PDLs undergo the mandatory assessment and evaluation at the NBP's Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC).
Last Christmas day, the BuCor allowed PDLs to receive visitors from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It also allowed the wife and the common-law wife to stay in from 8 a.m. last Dec. 24 to 7 a.m. last Dec. 25.
On Jan. 1, wives and common-law wives of PDLs would be allowed to stay in from 8 a.m. until 7 a.m. on Jan. 2.
