The San Juan City local government has allocated P500,000 financial aid for the municipality of Baler, Aurora, as part of its assistance to its sister local government unit (LGU) that was devastated by Super Typhoon Pepito in November.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora made the announcement on Friday, Dec. 20, as he thanked the city council for approving the aid.
"To Mayor Rhett Angara, Congressman Rommel Angara, and the people of Baler, the people of San Juan are with you as you recover from this calamity," Zamora said.
The two LGUs inked the sisterhood agreement in August aiming to boost their ties and cooperation especially in the areas of tourism and environmental protection.
Based on the latest report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) dated Nov. 19, seven individuals were killed during the onslaught of the typhoon.
Pepito also caused P478 million damage to agriculture and infrastructure in Luzon.
