Foreigners can now get student visas, permits online -- BI

Applications for student visas and permits for foreigners can now be done online, the Bureau of Immigration said on Wednesday, Dec. 18, as it launched its online application system.

“This is a priority project of the BI to make things easier and more secure for foreign students to apply for their visas and permits," said BI Commission Joel Anthony Viado in a statement.

Viado said the project brings the bureau “one step closer to the BI’s goal of modernization through automation of services.”

He said the project is also the BI's contribution to the country’s efforts “to make the Philippines a leading education hub in Asia.” 

Under the system, schools can now apply directly with the BI.

The Bi said the system removed unnecessary paperwork and added convenience by making applications online.
