In the series, Lee Jae-yoon, who enlists in the military at a later age, faces anxiety about his future.
Due to challenges from being apart from his girlfriend Young-joo, they have a sudden breakup after an argument.
However, a zombie outbreak spreads across Seoul, forcing Jae-yoon to step up as leader of his squad.
Young-joo, meanwhile, experiences her own difficulties as a rookie in the workforce. She is frustrated with Jae-yoon due to him misunderstanding her heart. While on her way to see him, she witnesses the zombie rampage and adapts in order to survive.
The first-look stills foreshadow a dynamic story encompassing happy times between the couple as well as the world thrown into chaos by zombie attacks. Thinking of each other first as boyfriend and girlfriend, they run across a zombie-laid city to be together again.
Park Jeong-min’s acting credits include “Bleak Night,” “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet” (for which he won best new actor at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards), “Deliver Us From Evil” and the hit drama “Reply 1988.” Jisoo starred in the drama “Snowdrop.”
“Newtopia” is directed by Yoon Sung-hyun (“Bleak Night,” “Time to Hunt”) and co-written by Han Jin-won (“Parasite”) and Jee Ho-jin (“A Shop for Killers”).
“Newtopia’ will stream on Prime Video from Feb. 7 to March 21 next year.
