The Department of Justice (DOJ) has 121 new prosecution attorneys (PAs) who will be assigned to prosecutor's offices nationwide.
A total of 114 of the 121 prosecution attorneys took their oath of office before Prosecutor General Richard Anthony D. Fadullon during a ceremony held at the Manila Prince Hotel on Monday, Dec. 9.
“The 121 newly-appointed PAs shall be assigned to different prosecution offices nationwide to help the DOJ maintain its efficiency in handling cases and attain its ultimate goal of having zero case backlogs as well as ease workload and expedite resolution of cases,” the DOJ said in a statement.
In his message, DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla told the newly sworn in prosecutors that their “primordial duty is to render justice to the deserving, by prosecuting the guilty and protecting the innocent.”
“Let us offer no excuse in the pursuit thereof,” Remulla stressed.
“Together, let us discharge our functions with the highest degree of excellence and utmost fidelity,” he also said.
The department noted the 121 PAs included former DOJ’s National Prosecution Service (NPS) staff members who are now lawyers.
It said "the youngest among them is 26 years-old while the oldest is 52 years-old, all traits demonstrating the DOJ's exemplary organizational practice of providing equal opportunity in employment without biases or discrimination.”
