Mayor appeals to authorities to act vs gun violence in Abra


BANGUED, Abra –  La Paz town Mayor JB Bernos, alarmed over the spate of shootings in this province, called on authorities to institute thorough measures to plug gun-related violence.

The national president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines urged the police to leave no stone unturned in the investigation of these shooting incidents.

Bernos appealed following the murder of Engineer Emmanuel "Nolie" B. Manglibo, 63, in Barangay Calaba here on Tuesday night.

Maglibo was about to enter his house onboard a motorcycle when he was shot by an unidentified gunman. He was declared dead in a hospital.

Last month, Jomar Bigornia, 38, was gunned down in a wake in Barangay Naguirian, Pidigan.

The Diocese of Bangued also condemned the killings. The clergy appealed to authorities to sustain peace and order in the province.
