Farmer hacked dead by neighbor over foul-smelling fertilizer in Quezon


INFANTA, Quezon – A 34-year-old farmer was allegedly hacked to death by his neighbor over the foul smell of the fertilizer he was using in his vegetable farm here on Thursday morning, Nov. 7.

Police identified the victim as Rigor Otilla.

Investigation said the suspect, Ricky, 46, confronted the victim due to the pungent smell of the fertilizer, triggering a melee where the suspect hacked the victim with a bolo in the neck and hand.

Otilla was taken to a hospital here where he was declared dead. 

Police arrested the suspect who is facing a homicide case.

Meanwhile, a five-month-old fetus was found in Sitio Laguile, Barangay San Gregorio, Laurel, Batangas, on Thursday morning.

Police said a scrap collector found a yellow plastic bag with a dextrose bottle inside. He opened it and saw a fetus in the bottle. 

He reported his discovery to the barangay that coordinated with the police who are  conducting follow-up investigation.
