A man has been arrested in La Union for allegedly kidnapping the minor daughters of his former live-in partner, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday, Nov. 7.
The NBI identified him as Jesushan F. Carino who was arrested by the operatives of the NBI Alaminos District Office (NBI-ALDO) last Oct. 29.
“Subject Carino was presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Dagupan City for Kidnapping and failure to return a minor as defined and penalized under Art. 270 of the RPC (Revised Penal Code); and Violence Against Women and their Children as defined in Section 5 (i) of RA (Republic Act) 9262, the Act Defining Violence Against Women and their Children; and additional violations under RA 7610, the Act Providing for Stronger Deterrence and Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination.
The NBI said the operation was conducted against Carino following a complaint made by his live-in partner. The complaint stated that sometime last May and June she entrusted the custody of her children to Carino on the condition he would return them to her on July 1.
“However, Subject Carino failed to return the minor children up until October 29,” the bureau said.
“Thus, complainant sought the help of NBI-ALDO,” it also said.
