Company driver arrested 'for selling illegal drugs'

A driver was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs inside the company he works for in Valenzuela City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The NBI identified the driver as Jjoanro Daet Castillo who works for Convalesce, Inc.

It said Castillo was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by operatives of the NBI’s Dangerous Drugs Division (NBI-DDD) inside the company’s premises last Oct. 23.

During the operation, the bureau said Castillo was caught “in flagrante delicto (in the act) selling methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.”

After his arrest, Castillo was charged before the Department of Justice (DOJ) with violation of Section 5 of Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The NBI said the operation against Castillo was made at the request of Convalesce.

“The said company expressed concern over Castillo’s illegal activities that might compromise the safety and working conditions of its employees, and may lead to proliferation of illegal drugs within the company's premises,” it also said.
