Marcos: PH stands united with Palestinians in their call for lasting peace

President Marcos on Wednesday, Nov. 27, said that the Philippines stands united with the Palestinian people in their aspiration for an enduring peace and prosperity.

Marcos' message came as the country joined the international community in commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have until now been facing oppression, bombardment and displacement, particularly from Israel's continued attacks.

The Philippine Mission to the United Nations relayed Marcos' message to the international community and posted the President's statement on its X account.

Marcos said the Philippines is "deeply concerned over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the increasing tensions in the Middle East."

Marcos urged parties involved in the conflict to refrain from escalating the violence, adding that it is only through diplomacy that a lasting peace can be achieved.

"We condemn all attacks against civilians and civilian structures which have resulted in an alarming number of casualties, particularly women and children, and restricted access to food, water, medicine and other basic needs," Marcos said.

"We call for rapid, safe, unimpeded and sustained humanitarian access to all those in need," he added.

The President said the Philippines recognizes that the conflict "can only be resolved through diplomatic engagement" and negotiations based on international law and extends its full support for initiatives that are geared towards the revival of a peace process.

"We urge all parties to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict, with a view to realizing the two-state solution," Marcos added.
