The Department of Energy (DOE) approved four new renewable energy (RE) projects for system impact studies (SIS) in October.
The DOE said this bought the total number of SIS grants issued by the department to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) last month to 24. The newly approved projects include solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) installations.
An SIS ensures that integrating new projects into the power grid will not compromise its safety and efficiency.
The DOE granted the most recent SIS approvals to the East Asia Utilities Corporation (EAUC) for its 30-megawatt (MW) energy storage system project, AP Renewable Energy Corporation for its 387 MW-peak Olongapo Solar Power Project, Haraya Wind Energy Corporation for its 370-MW Haraya Zambales Onshore Wind Project, and Victoria Green Power Corporation for its 40.6 MWp Solar PV Power Plant.
These projects are primarily located in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, Olongapo, Zambales, and the Municipality of Babatngon in Leyte.
The number of SIS endorsements in October (24) surpassed September's figure (19), with RE projects dominating the applications.
Year-to-date, the DOE has endorsed approximately 172 projects for SIS, with renewable energy projects accounting for nearly 97 percent.
