The Department of Health (DOH) has raised the Code White Alert nationwide until Saturday, Nov. 2, in observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, ensuring that hospitals are fully prepared to handle any potential medical emergencies during this significant holiday.
The Code White Alert signifies the readiness of hospitals, with health workers—including general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, operating room nurses, ophthalmologists, and otorhinolaryngologists—prepared to respond to emergencies at any time.
The Operations Center (OPCEN) of hospitals is also on standby to coordinate with regional and central offices of the DOH.
The public is advised to plan visits to cemeteries during less crowded times. Bringing water, food, first aid supplies, and umbrellas is also recommended.
Drivers should ensure their vehicles are in good condition by checking the BLOWBAGSET—Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, Gas, Self, Engine, and Tools.
DOH also advised against driving if fatigued or under the influence of alcohol.
While at the cemetery, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, sanitize your hands, and be vigilant for symptoms of heat stroke, such as dizziness and fainting, it added.
