No one will be spared in the government’s investigation on the reported extrajudicial killings (EJKs) that allegedly took place during the drug war of then President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla said on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
"Spare no one, hold accountable every personality who had a hand in the senseless killings perpetrated by abusive persons in authority during the past admin's anti-illegal drug campaign," declared Remulla in a statement.
Remulla said he already issued Department Order (DO) 778 dated Nov. 4 that created the task force that will investigate the EJKs during the past administration’s drug war.
The task force is composed of the Office of the Secretary of Justice Prosecution Staff (OSJPS) and includes a senior assistant state prosecutor as chairperson, a regional prosecutor as co-chairperson, and nine members from the National Prosecution Service (NPS).
A team from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) may be required to constitute the task force.
“The Task Force shall be obliged to submit a report to the Secretary of Justice not later than 60 days from the issuance of DO 778,” the DOJ said.
