8 dead, 6 missing in Batangas flash flood

AGONCILLO, Batangas – Eight persons were killed and six individuals are missing in three barangays due to a flash flood here spawned by tropical cyclone "Kristine" on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Police identified the fatalities as Rafael Cabello, Susan Mia, Eufronio Orlanes Cabrera Sr., Julieta Reyes Sangalang, Francisco de Leon, Lorena Almanzor de Leon, Gian Carlo Suarez Mendoza, and Nerie Barrion Mendoza.

Their bodies were retrieved in rescue and retrievals operation conducted by the police.

The six missing persons are still unidentified.

Police said the flash flood occurred in Barangays Subic IIaya, Subic Ibaba, and Banyaga between 3 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The victims’ bodies were taken to the Francisco Funeral Homes here.

Rescue and retrieval operation are ongoing.
