Biden honors Filipino Americans

US President Joe Biden said that Filipino-Americans must be proud of their achievements and aspirations as the "dreamers and doers" like them embody the possibilities that a great United States has.

In his message dated Oct. 21 (Washington time), Biden joined in the celebration of the Filipino American History Month, highlighting the contribution of the members of the Filipino-American community to the country.

He said that since the founding of the US, Filipino-Americans "have enriched the very essence of who we are as a people."

"They are the community leaders, who advocate and stand up for all of us," he said.

"They are the first responders and Service members, who put themselves at risk to keep the rest of us safe," he added.

Biden said that members of the community also represent the best of who America is as a nation, as athletes and artists, entrepreneurs and engineers, public servants and health care workers, and so much more.

"America is the only country in the world with a heart and soul that draw from old and new. For hundreds of years, people from around the globe have made the courageous trek to our nation's shores," he said.

"By honoring and reflecting on the proud history and heritage of this vibrant community, we all come closer to realizing the full promise of America for all Americans," he added.

Biden encouraged each member of the community to feel "tremendous pride" in not only their own achievements and aspirations but also those of people around them as they celebrate such a wonderful occasion.

"Dreamers and doers like you embody the possibilities of this great Nations—and that is a big part of the reason why I have never been more optimistic about our future," he added.
