VP Duterte warns Sen. Marcos: 'I will dig up your father's body and throw to WPS'

Vice President Sara Duterte said Friday, Oct. 18, that she threatened Sen. Imee Marcos to dig up from the grave and throw her father's, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s, body to the West Philippine Sea.

Her warning came after she was asked about her opinion on former president Rodrdigo Duterte's decision to bury the body of the former leader, who led the country under a military rule for two decades that led to the deaths of thousands and the violations of human rights, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery).

"Isang beses sinabihan ko talaga si Senator Imee, sabi ko sa kanya, pag di kayo tumigil huhukyain ko yang tatay ninyo. Itatapon ko sya sa West Philippine Sea (One time, I told Senator Imee that if they wouldn't stop, I would dig up her father's body and throw it to the West Philippine Sea)," Duterte said in a sit-down with the media.

In August 2016, former president Duterre ordered the burial of former president Marcos at the Heroes' Cemetery, which was supported by the Supreme Court after activists filed their opposition to such a move.

The highest court said that Marcos "committed no grave abuse of discretion," and that no law prohibited a hero's burial for him.

Duterte said she told the senator about her plan in their group chat.

"I don't think sumagot sya (she answered). Di ko maalala (I can't remember)," she added.
