American and Filipino Marine commandos have conducted an amphibious assault exercise on a beach in Palawan as part of the war games aimed at boosting the interoperability of the two countries’ armed forces.

In a statement, the Philippine Marine Corps’ (PMC) 3rd Marine Brigade said the amphibious assault on a beach in  Long Point, Barangay Apurawan in Aborlan town was conducted utilizing boats from Combat Support Brigade with the combined Filipino and American soldiers as the assaulting force.

“After the successful landing, the landing force skillfully maneuvered their way to the designated objectives by breaching obstacles encountered, target suppression through live fire of various guns and infantry maneuvers on the beach,” the statement read.

The activity was one of the series of  military exercises under the Kaagapay ng Mandirigma sa Dagat (KAMANDAG 08-24) being annually conducted by PMC and US Marine Corps.

Exercise KAMANDAG 08-24 aims to strengthen the interoperability of the Philippines and United States’ Armed Forces while promoting regional security and cooperation.

It also serves as a platform for cooperation amongst like-minded countries in order to enhance and promote a free, open and secure Indo-Pacific region.

The successful amphibious assault exercise was also the result of the close coordination and support by the local government units in the province.

This year’s iteration will be participated by Japan, Australia, South Korea, and the United Kingdom and also involves the participation from the military forces of the French Armed Forces, Royal Thai Marine Corps and Indonesian Kor Marinir.
