7 undocumented Chinese nationals now under BI custody

Seven undocumented Chinese nationals who were arrested last Sept. 15 at the Navotas City port by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have been turned over to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sept. 25, the BI identified them as Kang Yinxi, Wei Jiarui, Zhuang Chugen, Guo Yibin, Lin Zongsen, Liu Xinfu, and Chen Min.

"This operation sends a strong message: the Philippines is not a playground for illegal aliens,” said BI Officer-in-Charge Joel Anthony Viado.

“The BI, together with our partners like the Philippine Coast Guard will continue to stand against foreign threats to our sovereignty,” Viado assured.

He said the seven Chinese nationals are now detained at the BI’s detention facility in Taguig City after being turned over by the PCG last Sept. 20 for deportation proceedings.

“The suspects, aged 30-45 years old, were intercepted aboard the M/V Sangko Uno found at the Navotas City port last Sept. 15,” the BI said.

It said the PCG found the Chinese nationals undocumented.
