NBI nabs 2 persons in Oriental Mindoro; P34-M worth of shabu seized

Two persons were arrested and P34 million worth of shabu, methamphetamine hydro-cloride, were seized during a buy-bust operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Oriental Mindoro.

In a statement on Thursday, Sept. 19, the NBI identified the two arrested persons as Luis Delos Reyes Baes and Lyn Ylagan Baes who will be charged with violations of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

It said that Luis and Lyn, whose relationship was not made known by the bureau, were arrested last Sept. 16 during an anti-illegal drugs buy-bust operation conducted by the NBI operatives in Sagana, Oriental Mindoro.

“The confiscated drugs were found inside the five packs of Chinese tea bag labeled Guanyinwang weighing more or less five killograms, with an estimated street value of P34,000,000,” it also said.

It added that the operatives also seized a gray Toyota Hilux, two mobile phones, two identification cards, plastic bags, and passport.

Also last Sept. 16, the NBI said a Vietnamese national, identified as Van Dai Do, was arrested by operatives of the NBI Dangerous Drugs Division in Pasay CIty for selling Ketamine Hydrochloride and Methylenedioxymethampetamine.

“The operation stemmed from an intelligence report regarding the rampant selling of illegal drugs in Pasay City,” it said.

After his arrest, the NBI said the Vietnamese national was charged before the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office with violations of RA 9165.
