The three will reprise their roles in the upcoming season. Lee Jung-jae will essay the role of Player 456 Seong Gi-hun, Wi Ha-joon will be Hwang Jun-ho and Lee Byung-hun will play the role of Hwang In-ho or the Front Man. Gong Yoo will also reprise his role.

The new cast members are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk (Lee Jin-wook), Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.

Here are the speculations by fans and the answers by the stars:

Theory No. 1 - Character Changes

The three stars read the speculations by fans.

“In Season 1, the fact that Seong Gi-hun's hair was pink implies that he will be one of the hosts, like the pink soldiers,” Lee Jung-jae read.

Wi Ha-joon said, “I think Wi Ha-joon will turn into a villain this season. He tries to get rid of the games and ends up becoming the host.”

“Lee Byung-hun will wear an animal mask and appear as a VIP in Season 2. Seong Gi-hun will be appointed as the Front Man,” said Lee Byung-hun.

He explained, “This theory is very imaginative, but it is far from the actual story. Still sounds interesting. Still, I like being the leader.”

“Some people around me also suggested the same theories,” said Wi Ha-joon but Lee Jung-jae told fans, “You will have to wait and see.”

Theory No. 2 - Staff Backstory

On the theory that season 2 is the backstory of the staff from season 1 that many of the game scenes in the original will be repeated.

“That would be great. I also thought it would be fun if season 2 were to develop that way,” said Wi Ha-joon.

Theory No. 3 - Red/Blue Ddakji

Ddakji is a traditional Korean game of flipping folded paper tiles. In “Squid Game,” Gong Yoo uses ddakji to recruit players.

According to a fan, Lee Byung-hun read, “When you play ddakji, if you pick the blue one, you become a participant. But if you pick the red one, you become a soldier. I got goosebumps when I read this theory. Am I the only one who didn't know?”

He said, “I think you're the only one who thought so. No one has thought this before.”

Theory 4 - Gi-hun's Daughter

In season 1, Gi-hun had a daughter played by Cho Ah-in.

Lee Jung-jae said that according to a fan, “Either Park Gyu-young or Jo Yu-ri, who were announced as part of the cast, will play the adult version of Seong Gi-hun's daughter, and Seong Gi-hun, who is now the host, will face a dilemma and end up making a choice to protect his daughter.”

“Whoever wrote this should join our team. It must be someone with a rich imagination,” he said.

Theory 5 - Political Bigwigs

“This game extends its influence all over the world, but because it involves political bigwigs and those in power, they will stop it from being leaked,” according to a fan, Wi Ha-joon said.

“The head, who is considered the highest in this game, I wonder who it is. I believe Jun-ho would try to find that out,” he explained.

Theory No. 6 - Gi-hun Gets Revenge

"I personally hope that loan sharks will participate in the games in season 2. I want Seong Gi-hun to kill them and get his revenge,” a fan wrote.

Lee Jung-jae said, “Do you think the kind-hearted Seong Gi-hun would do something to harm others?”

Theory No. 7 - Sports Festival Analogy

One fan said, "While season 1 was like the national sports festival, season 2 will be more like a trial for the national team. So I bet season 2 will have participants from other countries with some foreign games. And season 3 will be an international match like the World Cup. Let's go for season 3.”

Lee Byung-hun said all games in season 2 will be Korean.

“In season 2, you will get to see many new games. But they are all Korean games,” he said.

According to Lee Jung-jae, “Some comments were so absurd that they made me laugh.”

After season 2, season 3 of “Squid Game” will be released next year.
