Rainy weather to persist due to typhoon’s trough, ‘habagat’

The trough or extension of Typhoon “Yagi” (formerly “Enteng”) and the southwest monsoon may continue to bring rainy conditions to a large part of Luzon over the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4.

In its 5 p.m. daily bulletin, PAGASA said that although the typhoon had already left the country’s area of responsibility on Wednesday morning, its trough or extended cloudiness may continue to bring scattered light to heavy rains and thunderstorms to the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.

The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” which is continuously enhanced by Typhoon Yagi, may trigger heavy to intense rainfall in Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

PAGASA said occasional moderate to heavy monsoon rains may persist in Metro Manila, La Union, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Northern Palawan, and the rest of Central Luzon.

Scattered moderate to, at times, heavy monsoon rains may prevail over Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon.

PAGASA continues to warn of flooding and rain-induced landslides, particularly in areas identified as "highly or very highly” susceptible to these hazards and regions that have received significant rainfall in the past few days.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
