Marijuana plants worth P15.4-M burned in Kalinga -- NBI


Marijuana worth P15.4 million were burned in two plantations that were discovered in Kalinga province, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Tuesday, August 20.

In a statement, the NBI said the marijuana plants were found in two plantations measuring 15,400 square meters that were discovered by joint operatives of the NBI and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the province last August 16.

“The marijuana plants were uprooted, photographed, inventoried, and burned on-site by the joint operatives,” said the NBI.

It said that "further investigation will be conducted by the NBI to apprehend the owners and cultivators of the marijuana plantations.”

It also said that the operation was conducted after the PDEA Kalinga last August 4 ”requested the assistance of the NBI to conduct anti-drug operation against the alleged marijuana plantations in Kalinga.”
