Motorists laud opening of access road between 2 villages in Muntinlupa

Motorists and residents in Muntinlupa are praising the opening of an access road between two villages, saying it drastically cut travel time and saved them money for gas.

The passageway between Katarungan Village, a government housing project of the Department of Justice (DOJ), and South Greenheights Village in Barangay Putatan was opened by Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon and other city officials on Feb. 20.

The access road linked the R. Pamatian Street in Katarungan Village and Rosemary Street in South Greenheights Village.

One of the residents who praised the opening of the access road is R'lyn Tanchico Zambrano, who resides in the far end of South Greenheights Village where the access road is located..

She and her family passed the access road on Feb. 21 and were amazed at how it is easy now for them to go to Katarungan Village and nearby areas.

“Amazing passageway from our village..mismong street namin (South greenheights) to Katarungan village! Ohemgee!! 20-30 seconds lang..from our house,as in! Biglang Katarungan agad!” Zambrano posted on Facebook.

She said they were able to reach Landers Superstore located on Daang Hari Road in Las Pinas in less than 10 minutes from the usual 40 minutes.

“Mas madali na din ang punta ko sa mga piano home services ko sa Ayala Alabang and Alabang hills yorn! (I can now easily go to my piano home services in Ayala Alabang and Alabang Hills),” she added.

She told Manila Bulletin that before the opening of the access road, when they would go to Ayala Alabang or Festival Mall, they pass through the CARES access road that connects subdivisions Soldiers Hills, Camella 2, 2D and 2E and Mutual Homes in Barangay Putatan to Filinvest City in Alabang.

“30 mins nasa Ayala Alabang na ako (In 30 minutes I’m already at Ayala Alabang,” she said. With the opening of the Katarungan-South Greenheights access road, her travel time will be cut down.

When they want to go to the Villar-owned Evia Lifestyle Center on Daang Hati, she said before they would take the National Road, pass through Susana Heights toll gate and go through MCX. Now in just a few minutes they can visit the mall through the access road in their village.

“Thank you HOA ng katarungan and greenheights and Mayor!” said Zambrano

The homeowners associations of Katarungan and South Greenheights signed a memorandum of agreement on Dec. 18 last year to approve the opening of the access road.

The opening of the access road is in accordance with City Ordinance No. 02-045 or the Muntinlupa City Alternative Route Entry and Exit System (CARES) that aims to interconnect subdivisions by opening access roads.

According to the city government, for now, only residents of Katarungan Village and South Greenheights Village can use the access road.
