Set to hit screens in the Philippines this Sept. 13, "Immersion" focuses on a tech team deeply immersed in virtual reality experiments, all tangled up with the grudge of the infamous "red woman."

Picture this: On a remote island, a tech startup is on the verge of a groundbreaking development with its Shin-Sekai (New World) project. They're seamlessly integrating virtual reality and neuroscience to craft an environment that mirrors reality itself.

Tomohiko Kataoka, played by Daigo Nishihata, is in the thick of it. While he's digging into the research, he stumbles upon a strange red gate and some weird stuff in the virtual world's data.

Next comes the startling revelation: Tomohiko discovers that his coworker, Ide, and another participant in the experiment have met the same demise, despite being miles apart. This leads him to suspect that it's connected to the synchronization of brainwaves, enabling virtual reality to deeply influence one's experiences, potentially even tampering with memories and emotions.

As Tomohiko continues his investigation, he uncovers that the island's Shaman, Yuta, holds the key. Acquiring all the brain data entails involving Yuta, but it comes with its risks. Linking the island to Shin-Sekai project unleashes Imajo, a vengeful spirit filled with fury, bringing a wave of tragic drownings.

Shimizu masterfully establishes the stage, presenting the narrative with clarity, devoid of unnecessary gimmicks. And let me tell you, he keeps the audience thoroughly engaged. Prepare for unexpected twists that truly elevate the level of excitement.

When it comes to those flashbacks and camera techniques, they're like adding a unique seasoning to an already great dish. They introduce an additional layer of depth to the narrative, enhancing its allure.

Shimizu has a talent for balancing excitement and tension. He understands your expectations and meets them head-on. The film strikes all the perfect chords, leaving you with memorable moments that will stay with you for a long time.

"Immersion" transcends the conventions of standard horror cinema. It's an exhilarating journey that grips you from start to finish.

Shimizu transports fear to an entirely new level, submerging you in a realm where terror reigns supreme. Brace yourself for a whirlwind of emotions that will linger well after the screen goes dark.
