Metro Manila now at 'low-risk' for Covid-19, says OCTA
Metro Manila is now under low-risk classification for Covid-19 as testing positivity rate steadily decreased over the past few weeks, an OCTA Research fellow said on Sunday, July 2.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said Metro Manila’s seven-day positivity rate dropped from 5.9 percent on June 23 to 5 percent on June 30.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19. Based on its current positivity rate, Metro Manila is now categorized as “low-risk” in the metrics used by the group, David said. This also shows that the region’s positivity rate is already within the 5 percent benchmark set by the World Health Organization. On July 1, the Department of Health reported 319 new Covid-19 cases across the country, of which 61 cases were recorded in Metro Manila. David projected that the country may record 300 to 400 new Covid-19 cases on July 2. He said the country’s Covid-19 positivity rate was also down from 7.2 percent on June 30 to 6.9 percent on July 1.
