Batangas cops nab carnapping suspect in Muntinlupa


CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas City – Police from the municipality of Tuy, this province, arrested a carnapping suspect on Monday, July 17 in Putatan, Muntinlupa City.

The suspect was identified as Teddy Balagon, a 46-year-old driver and resident of Putatan.

Batangas police director Police Col. Samson Belmonte said Balagon was arrested with the assistance of  the Muntinlupa police through a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 9 in Balayan, Batangas dated February 23, 2023, for violation of Republic Act 6539 (Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972) as amended by RA 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Law of the Philippiens).

Balagon allegedly rented a car in May 2021 but failed to return the vehicle to the owner.

Belmonte commended the Tuy police for arresting the suspect who is now in the custody of the municipal police station custodial facility for proper disposition.
