Amid recent controversies surrounding the campaigns and logos of other agencies, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) assured the public that no public funds were spent on creating the recently unveiled logo of the "Bagong Pilipinas" governance brand.

The PCO said this after President Marcos ordered all government offices to adopt the "Bagong Pilipinas", a brand of governance leadership that focuses on implementing an "all-inclusive plan for economic and social transformation",

In a statement, the PCO said that they did not spend a single cent in creating the logo after Filipinos online questioned the new logo of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), which reportedly cost P3 million.

"The logo was produced internally by the Presidential Communications Office and underwent complete staff work to ensure adherence to the heraldic code. This was accomplished without any cost to the government," it said on Sunday afternoon, July 16.

Based on Memorandum Circular No. 24, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, "Bagong Pilipinas" would be the overarching theme of the Administration's brand of governance and leadership, which calls for deep and fundamental transformations in all sectors of society and government.

All national government agencies and instrumentalities are ordered to adopt the approved logo and incorporate it in their letterheads, websites, official social media accounts, and other documents about the government's flagship programs.

According to the PCO, the Bagong Pilipinas logo depicts various stages of development in the Philippines' journey toward the government's aspirations for the future.

The three red stripes symbolize significant development periods throughout history:

  • The post-war agricultural and rural development
  • The post-colonial period
  • The current metropolitan development

The two blue stripes symbolize the goals for the future – a progressive Philippines that leverages technological advancement in pursuing sustainable industrial development.

Meanwhile, the rising sun signifies the dawn of a new Philippines, "symbolizing our desire to take center stage in the global market and community of nations."

On the other hand, the PCO said the weave pattern illustrates the interconnectedness and unity of the Filipino people, as the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas can only be achieved through collective effort, collaboration, and a shared commitment to progress.

"Just as individual strands come together to form a strong and intricate weave, the Filipino people, with their diverse backgrounds and talents, as well as rich cultural heritage, contribute to the strength of the nation," it said.

"Overall, the Bagong Pilipinas logo embodies the Marcos Administration's vision for the country, emphasizing unity, involvement, and the bayanihan culture as the main fibers and components for its full realization," it added.
