Lea Salonga, a Broadway star from the Philippines, had a surprising encounter with some Filipino fans outside her dressing room.

This happened right after one the recent previews for "Here Lies Love," which is the first Broadway show featuring an all-Filipino cast. The much-awaited show is set to open on July 20.

A viral video showed Salonga surprised when she noticed some Filipino fans waiting outside her dressing room, eagerly requesting pictures.

"Who are you? I'm so sorry. I don't know you," Salonga asked the fans.

An unidentified woman replied: "I'm just a fan."

Salonga continued: "Unless you're on the guest list, we cannot have you back here. So you have to go to the door. I'm sorry. But If I allow this now, other people are going to take advantage of this."

The same unidentified woman apologized to Salonga. Then the Broadway star was approached by a youthful lady who disclosed that she was acquainted with Giselle Tongi, a Filipino actress who also participates in the creation of "Here Lies Love."

Salonga told the waiting fans, "Can you wait for me at the door? I'm so sorry. I'll see you at the door, but don't go outside. Stay inside the door. Kung wala talaga sa listahan hindi namin pinapapasok for security purposes. I'll be right there."

The fans apologized again to Salonga.

As Salonga walked through the corridor, one of the fans could be heard saying, "Lea idol na idol ka po namin."

Salonga remarked: "Thank you but again..."

The fan went on to say: "Thank you so much. You're so pretty. Wala kang kupas at napakagaling mo, napaka-husay mo. We're so proud of you po. We understand po the protocol. Oh my God! Si Lea Salonga! My God!"

Salonga, 52, didn't seem to like what happened because the fans suddenly went to the dressing room without permission. Even so, Salonga still granted the request of Pinoy fans to take pictures.

In the Broadway play "Here Lies Love," Salonga plays Aurora, Ninoy Aquino's mother. She is also a co-producer of the show.
