Russia seeks areas of cooperation with PH

Russia believes there are many areas in which it can cooperate with the Philippines as it sees the latter as one of its “significant partners” on the Russia Day.

Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov said Moscow and Manila “have achieved a lot,” but the potential of the two countries “is far from being exhausted.”

One of the areas of cooperation for the two countries is food and energy security.

It can be attained “by supplying of such vital commodities as fertilizers and energy resources.”

Moscow and Manila can also partner on a “peaceful nuclear,” which Pavlov said already has gained “a lot of attention in the Philippines lately.”

“Besides, there is a potential of a broader cooperation in terms of manufacturing and agriculture, communication and technology, culture and education,” he added in his speech during the Russia Day celebration in Manila.

Pavlov also sought for a direct flight between Moscow and Manila, which he said “would undoubtedly give a big boost to both business and touristic exchanges.”

Then: there is a “crucial field” in terms of inter-regional relations.

“On September 8, 2022, Vladivostok and Cebu concluded an Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation. The other vivid example is signing on January 30 the Cooperation Program between the city of Manila and the government of Moscow,” he said.

“I’d like to propose a toast for health, prosperity and well-being of the Filipino people, for the friendship between our two countries,” he added.
