In a memorandum issued to regional directors and schools division superintendents dated June 2, DepEd Assistant Secretary for Curriculum and Teaching Alma Ruby Torio and Assistant Secretary for Operations Francis Cesar Bringas requested projected data for program support fund allocation in the National Learning Camp (NLC).

In the said memo, the DepEd officials informed the regional offices of the conduct of the NLC.

“DepEd, through the Curriculum and Teaching Strand, will implement the National Learning Camp (NLC) for a period of three to five weeks during the end-of-school-year break of School Year (SY) 2022-2023,” the memo read.

Based on DepEd’s School Calendar for SY 2022-2023, the current school year --- which started on Aug. 22, 2022 --- will end on July 7.

The NLC, as explained in the memo, will be comprised of Enrichment and Intervention Activities for Grades 7 and 8 learners as well as Remediation Activities for K to 12 Learners.

“Each class will accommodate a maximum of 35 learners to ensure learning efficiency,” DepEd said.

Related to this, DepEd said a Program Support Fund (PSF) shall be allocated to the Regional Offices (ROs) which will subsequently be downloaded to the schools division offices (SDOs).

“The allocated amount will be based on the identified number of participating learners in the NLC,” DepEd said.

In an interview in May, DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa said that learning camps will be rolled out during the school break.

“Ito po ay parte lahat niyan ng ating mga (These are all part of the) strategies to really improve quality basic education,” Poa said.
