PH extends BPO expertise to Uganda

The Philippines is sharing its expertise in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry with Uganda as officials of both countries recognized the importance of South-South cooperation in helping developing countries unlock their potential for growth. The Philippine government on Saturday concluded the hosting of the Benchmarking Experience focused on the BPO industry, which was attended by a delegation of Ugandan officials from the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). It aimed to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration between the Philippines and Uganda towards inclusive employment generation in the ICT industry. According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Uganda is drawing inspiration from the Philippines' success in the BPO industry as it recognizes its potential to generate employment for young people. Uganda is studying the Philippines' success in creating a thriving industry, the DFA added. "The benchmarking experience in the Philippines is a testament to our commitment to support Uganda's growth aspirations. Our commitment to South-South Cooperation strengthens our partnership with Uganda, fostering collaboration for shared prosperity," DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo said as he met with Ugandan ICT Minister Chris Baryomunsi. Manalo and Baryomunsi stressed the need for South-South Cooperation in achieving national development priorities. They also recognized the mutual benefits of sharing experiences, expertise, and best practices among developing countries, allowing countries to learn from one another, accelerate progress, and overcome common challenges. "Through South-South Cooperation, the Philippines and Uganda can forge a strong partnership based on shared experiences and mutual learning. Both our countries view ICT as a powerful force for socioeconomic development," Baryomunsi said. "By strengthening our collaboration, we can leverage each other's strengths and expertise, unlocking new possibilities and driving inclusive growth," he added.
